A payment, shipping, or checkout rule isn't working

Nothing changes at checkout

1. Enabled? On Customizations, the function’s status should be Enabled. In Shopify admin, it should also appear under Payment customizations, Delivery customizations, or Checkout rules.
2. Rules passing? Switch to Apply to all checkouts to test. If it then works, one of the rules is the problem. Switching clears the rules, so click Export on the display rules card first and import them back afterwards.
3. Name matching? Payment and shipping functions match names that contain your text. Copy the name exactly as it shows at checkout. With Require exact name match on a shipping function, capitals and spaces must match too.
4. Rules from the right rule set? Only use rules offered for the function’s rule set. If a function stopped working after you added a rule, remove that rule and save.
5. Too many functions? Shopify limits how many payment customizations, delivery customizations, and checkout rules a store can have. Delete ones you no longer use.

Only some payment methods are hidden

Hide and rename change the first payment method that matches each setting. Add one setting per method, with a specific name for each.

Every shipping option disappeared

A Hide shipping method setting with a blank Shipping method name, or with Show only specified shipping method and a name that doesn’t match, hides everything. Fill in the name, or untick Show only specified shipping method.

A cart attribute rule doesn’t work

• A function reads only one cart attribute key. Two rules with different keys don’t work together. The checkout blocker’s Rule Set 4 reads up to five.
• Keys and values usually have to match exactly, including capitals.
• The attribute must exist before the function runs. If a block sets it, see use block conditions in functions.

The checkout blocker blocks everyone

The rules describe when to block. With Apply to all checkouts, every checkout is blocked. Set the rules to match the situation you want to stop, such as Number of items is more than 10.

Changes didn’t take effect

Changes to tags, attribute keys, and metafield names in rules take effect when you save the function. After editing rules, click Save function, then start a fresh checkout to test.
