Markets and currencies

If you sell internationally with Shopify Markets, you can limit blocks and some functions to specific markets.

Every block has a Markets card:

  • Apply to all markets (default)
  • Apply to selected markets only: Tick the markets where the block should show. Check all ticks them all.

Customers in other markets don’t see the block. This is checked before display rules.

These functions have the same Markets card:

Other functions don’t have a markets setting. Use Delivery country rules where they’re available.

Blocks and functions treat money amounts differently.

How amounts work What to do
Functions (discounts, rules like Cart total) Enter amounts in your store’s currency. They’re converted to the customer’s currency at checkout. Nothing. One function works everywhere.
Blocks (progress bar targets, rules like Cart total) The number you enter is compared with the checkout amount in the customer’s currency, with no conversion Create one block per currency, each limited to the right markets

For example, a free shipping bar with a target of 100 fills at 100 USD for US customers and at 100 EUR for customers paying in euros. If your free shipping threshold is $100 or €90, create two progress bars, one per market.

  • B2B customers may not be matched to a market. Blocks set to Apply to selected markets only may not show for them, so use Apply to all markets for B2B blocks.
  • Product prices in cross sells and other offers are shown in the customer’s market price and currency automatically.
  • Language is separate from market. See translations.
