Image

The Image block shows one image, optionally with a subheading above it and a link when clicked.

Available on the Free and Business plans. Needs Shopify Plus. Images also work on the thank you and order status pages.

Settings

Setting	What it does
Subheading	Optional heading above the image. Supports links and formatting, but not variables.
Image source	Required. The image’s URL.
Image alt text	Describes the image for screen readers. Recommended.
Image link	Optional. Clicking the image opens this link in a new tab.
Visibility	Always show, or Show on selected devices only with Mobile / tablet and Desktop checkboxes.

Get an image URL from Shopify

1. In Shopify admin, go to Content → Files and click Upload files.
2. When the upload finishes, click the link icon next to the file to copy its URL.
3. Paste the URL into Image source.

Any public image URL works, but Shopify Files is free and fast.

Size

The image shows at its natural size, centered, and never wider than its spot in checkout. To make it smaller, set Image size (pixels) on the app block in the Checkout Editor. The image is then no wider than that.

Show different images on mobile and desktop

Create two Image blocks, one set to Mobile / tablet and one to Desktop, and show both in the same spot using Multiple block IDs on the app block (see which block shows).

Visibility uses the device type the browser reports, not the window size. Resizing a desktop browser window doesn’t switch it to the mobile image, and some tablets report themselves as desktops. Leave both boxes unticked to show the image everywhere.

Things to know

• A block hidden by visibility still takes the app block’s spot. Another block isn’t picked instead.
• On the thank you and order status pages, the subheading and visibility settings aren’t used.
• The link always opens in a new tab.
• Image size (pixels) also sizes other blocks in the same app block, such as trust badges.
